Schedule Update
As I announced in an earlier post, I’m making a change to my blogging schedule. On Mondays I would usually post notes from the previous day’s Sunday School class on Romans. Since yesterday was New Year’s Day, we didn’t have Sunday School, so there are no notes to post. Starting next week, I will be posting those Sunday School notes on Tuesday, not Monday. This leaves Monday open for posts on writing, Doctor Who, life, or whatever–perhaps nothing! One of my goals for 2012 is to be more disciplined with my blogging, so some weeks you may not get anything more than the scheduled blogs. This is not because I don’t enjoy blogging, but because I need to be sure the rest of my life (i.e., family, writing, reading, etc.) doesn’t suffer because I’ve got to spend an hour or so coming up with a blog post for the day. I will update the Schedule tab to reflect this change.
I want to take this opportunity to invite your feedback on my blog. Are there things you like about it, or things you don’t like? Are there types of posts you’d like to see more of (I’m planning more book reviews, for example), or types of posts you’d like to see less of (for example, I know I have some Doctor Who fans out there, but perhaps my Who posts are too numerous, or too long, for most of you)? Your feedback helps me make this blog more useful to you, so don’t spare my feelings. Thanks!
Have a lovely Monday! π
I have a blog-related goal too: spend less time dorking around on my blog and actually get some writing done lol π Since I’ve joined so many blogs in the past months I spend a ton of time reading posts and have progressively moved further away from my writing. Have you found this to be a problem too? I think balance is in order for me. Isn’t it nice to have RTW and Friday Fives to fall back on when the week is just too busy to do much else as far as the blog is concerned?
It’s true–I have acquired so many blogs to follow that it does take me a while to go through them all, especially when everyone has posted a new article. That’s one thing that has prompted me to be more disciplined with my blogging. I observed my own blog-reading habits and found (I confess) that some days I’m relieved when most of the blogs I follow *haven’t* posted something new, because that means I spend less time reading blogs and more time writing, reading, or doing other things I need to do! I figure if I do this, then perhaps others do too. I don’t want my readers to groan because there’s a new essay on my blog to read every day, and they have revisions to do, or agents to query, or whatever. As much as I enjoy blogging, I need to focus, for my sake, and yours! That’s why I’ve committed to posting on certain days, and you may get the occasional post other times. And I’m really going to try to be good about that, and ask myself “do I need to post that great blog article today, or can it wait until another time since I’ve already posted five articles this week?”
Thanks for your feedback, Jaime. π
I’m a new follower so I don’t have any feedback for you, but I can’t wait for your book reviews. I think book reviews are great. It gives me the opportunity to discover books I haven’t heard about as well as get a fellow blogger/reader/writers opinion.
Happy blogging/writing in 2012!
Thanks, Theresa! I enter the whole “book review” thing with a little trepidation because, well, I wasn’t an English major, and I’m not nearly as well-read (with regard to fiction, anyway) as many others on my blog roll (and in my GFC Members list), so I feel a little less-than-qualified. But as I develop my sense of what I think works and what I think makes for a good story, I do feel as if I have something to say. And like all reviews, you can take it or leave it.
I appreciate your encouragement! π
Hey! You don’t have to be an English major or well-read to write book reviews! Have you read any of mine? They don’t make any sense and I’m both of those things! I, for one, believe you’ll do a very good job with reviewing. You’re thorough and less likely go off on a wild tangent goose chase than *cough* at least one person we both know. π
*thumbs up*
You’re very kind, Bailey! I enjoy your reviews, even the tangents! And I look forward to the next. Just try to hold off on the spoilers in case it’s a book I haven’t read! π
I’m a pretty new follower so I can’t really comment – but, in my opinion, you can never have too much Doctor Who π
I tend to agree with you, Sarah, but I know Doctor Who is not everyone’s cup of tea. I’m hoping that my posts on the topic will entice people to check it out and learn to love the Time Lord as we do. π
