RTW: My YA Book Buddy

This week’s Road Trip Wednesday from the YA Highway ladies is asking: What IRL people can you talk to about YA?

I’m stealing a few moments out of my time here to respond, so unfortunately I have to be brief. My real-life YA buddy is my oldest daughter. She’s 18, an aspiring novelist, and currently has her sights set on going to college and working toward a degree in English. We often talk about writing, and YA books we’ve liked, heard about, and so on. It’s nice to have someone in close proximity to share books with, and also since she’s my daughter, it’s nice for me to be able to encourage her in her reading and writing.

Who’s your In-Real-Life YA friend? You can either reply in the comments, or respond on your blog and link to it in the YA Highway blog comments.

Awww! This is one great IRL buddy to have 😀 When it comes to YA, my brother-in-law reads some but not all types…I usually turn to my online friends when it comes to YA., especially as some of the books I am reading have not yet been translated into English 😀 Other types of literature I discuss with my parents, my sisters 😀 friends, love talking about books!

That’s awesome. My daughter is only 8, but I was psyched when she started to read Harry Potter.

  4. That is great. My not-quite-YA-age-yet daughter is a reader right now. I hope it stays that way so we can share YA in the future.

  5. Awwww. Makes me want to have a daughter, but nieces are convenient too–when we start to get on each other’s nerves, they can go home!

That’s wonderful that your daughter is your writing/YA book buddy! I’m lucky to have close friends who read YA, one of whom works in the publishing industry. It’s nice to have someone to talk to about all this!
