NaNoWriMo: Say “Yes” to the Stress!
That’s right: I have decided to do NaNoWriMo this year (if you didn’t pick that up from yesterday’s post, or you don’t follow me on Twitter, since I announced my decision there a few days ago). I know I didn’t need to blog the fact, but I wanted to for a couple of reasons. First, announcing it makes me more accountable for doing it. You all now know I’ll be among the many NaNo-ers this year. So you can ask me “How’s the word count?” And I’ll want to be able to say, “Excellent, thank you!”
My second reason for announcing it is so that my blog friends will all know, and if they too are NaNo-ing this year, they can hunt me down and be my buddy on NaNoWriMo.org. My username is “cds” (I know, highly original–bodes well for my fiction, I don’t think!). Find me if I don’t find you first!
In these two or three weeks preceding November 1, I will be outlining, planning, and preparing. For that purpose, I have purchased a box of Sharpie pens–not the markers, but the non-bleed-through, thin-tipped pens that can be used for writing. I’ve seen rave reviews about them from people that hand-write a lot, and since that’s my preferred way of novel-planning (i.e., by hand on paper), I thought I would indulge myself. I’ll let you know how they work out for me.
So, armed with my Sharpie pens and a composition book, I begin outlining what will be my first NaNo novel–and hopefully, my first NaNo success.
All the best to my fellow NaNoWriMo-ers! π
PS: I know this is my sixth blog article in as many days. Don’t get used to it–things are going to get very busy for me soon!
I added you as a buddy–I’m SilversteinELA, just like on Twitter. This year is the year–I’m actually going to finish. For serious.
Thank you Mrs. S! I hope I can help cheer you through the finish line. π
I added you as well, Colin. My big plan for this year is to finish the NaNo book I started last year. I’m actually really excited about doing this! And now we can all keep each other accountable. Hope you enjoy your first NaNo. π
Thank you, Jaime! I’m also quite looking forward to the experience. I’m especially looking forward to making a lot of progress on the WIP. Hope your NaNo’s a good one, too! π
Best wishes to you, Colin! I know you’ll win! π
Thank you Daisy! π
YEAH!!! Good for you, Colin. I’m rooting for you to win. I did the summer version this year, so I’m gonna sit this one out, but cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with this November!
Awww, thank you Julie! I really appreciate the support and cheers of my blog friends. I’ll try to keep you all updated on progress, here, on Twitter, and on NaNoWriMo.org, of course. π
