An Abundance of Giveaways

I don’t know what it is about January–at least this January. Perhaps people got duplicate books for Christmas, or maybe they got money and don’t know what to do with it… or perhaps people are still flush with Christmas cheer and generosity. Whatever the reason, it seems this is the season for giving away books. And I’m right there along with them! I thought it might be helpful to you, my faithful reader (or person who stumbled onto my blog while looking for one of the other Colin Smiths on the internet), if I gave a brief listing of the book giveaways I’m aware of. Here goes:

My Book of the Year 2012 Giveaway. Of course we’ll start here. I’m giving away a copy of SHATTER ME by Tahereh Mafi (my pick of the novels I read last year). If you already have SHATTER ME, I’m offering to pre-order the sequel, UNRAVEL ME for the winner. UNRAVEL ME comes out on February 5th. Giveaway closes midnight, January 20th.

Jaime’s THE DIVINERS Giveaway. My blog friend Jaime Morrow is giving away a copy of THE DIVINERS by Libba Bray. I’ve not read this book, but it sounds intriguing, certainly worth signing up for the giveaway. This one closes January 16th.

The Feather and the Rose’s New Year Giveaway. My blog friends Tyler-Rose and Susan (AKA “The Feather and the Rose”–I’m not sure which is which) are offering a choice of three books to the lucky winner of their giveaway: AUSTENLAND by Shannon Hale, SABRIEL by Gareth Nix, and CRAZY BEAUTIFUL by Lauren Baratz-Logsted. Closes January 31st.

Beth Revis’s Novella and Book Set Giveaway. As I understand it, Beth has written a novella to accompany her about-to-be-published final installment of the ACROSS THE UNIVERSE series, SHADES OF EARTH. The novella is free. Different blogs are hosting chapters of the novella. Visit each site, download the chapter, and enter to win one of five signed sets of books. This bloghop giveaway started Monday, but Beth is posting each site to visit every day on her blog so you can go there to catch up.

The UNBREAKABLE Goodreads Giveaway. Elizabeth Norris is giving away five signed ARCs of UNBREAKABLE, the second in her series that started with UNRAVELING (a book I enjoyed–especially the twist at the end). The giveaway ends March 26th, and the book comes out April 3rd.

The Pub(lishing) Crawl Authors Signed Book Set Giveaway. The writers at Pub(lishing Crawl are giving away a set of the following signed books: LEGEND by Marie Lu, INCARNATE by Jodi Meadow, THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J. Maas, and SOMETHING STRANGE AND DEADLY by Susan Dennard. Closes midnight on January 27th, I think.
