Five F-Songs

No, these are not songs with profanity in the lyrics (at least as far as I can tell). For something a little different on a Saturday, and in-keeping with today’s A-to-Z Blogging Challenge letter, I thought I would post a very random sampling of songs in the key of F major. Not my favorite key, but clearly one that worked for the following tunes:

“No More Lonely Nights” by Paul McCartney

“A New England” by Billy Bragg

“Summer, Highland Falls” by Billy Joel

“Lean on Me” by Red Box

“We Are Young” by Fun featuring Janelle Monae

Thanks! I thought it would be a bit different from doing, say, “songs that start with the letter ‘F’.” πŸ™‚

What a fun post! “We Are Young” brings back a lot of good memories. Following!

  6. If we’re picking favorite keys, my favorite is C, just because I played flute and oboe, and it was the easiest key for us πŸ˜‰

What a great idea for F!

Thank you Stephanie. I think my “favorite key” depends upon what I’m playing. C is nice for the piano (no sharps/flats), though I like D. For guitar, it’s probably G. Lots of nice open chords, though E is a good key for “rocking out”… πŸ™‚

    Great picks!

I really like We Are Young – wouldn’t have had a clue about the key though – I am not musically gifted.

It’s actually interesting to note the different songs you could play back to back based on the fact they’re in the same key. If I ever had the time, it might be fun to compile a database of songs/song keys and see… okay, that sounds really geeky, doesn’t it. Just the kind of thing I would do… *sigh* πŸ™‚
