Easter Egg

Today is Day Five of the A-to-Z Blogging Challenge. Click on the letter picture to the right for more information about this blog hop. Like last year, I’m writing 100-word flash fiction stories/poems/scenes for this year’s challenge. Today’s is:

Easter Egg

Ellie snatched the remote control.

“It’s on the Scene Selection menu, I’m sure,” said Liz.

Ellie ignored her and continued flipping from screen to screen. Bonus Features. Audio Options. Language Options. At each screen she pressed the arrow buttons to highlight whatever was there. She accidentally switched it to French. Then to German.

“Give it here,” said Liz, taking control back and finding “English.”

“I don’t know why we’re bothering. These Easter Eggs are normally useless.”

“Here!” Liz found the glowing egg shape and pressed “OK.”

Their mouths fell open when a Cadbury’s Creme Egg dropped from the Blu-Ray player.

Come back tomorrow for F…

I know. You can’t get Cadbury’s Eggs year round in the US–at least not in my neck of the woods–so this would be wonderful! Thanks, Mars. 🙂

Indeed! And see, I’m mixing up the genres with these stories. This one wasn’t dark and nasty! Unless I’ve left you craving a Cadbury’s Creme Egg… 🙂

Easter Eggs are the best! One of my favorites was the Flight Sim embedded in a really old version of Excel. But an Easter Egg that produces a Cadbury Egg? I’m all for that 🙂 Thanks for a great A-to-Z post. Drop by and leave a thought or two at http://downhomethoughts.com when you get the chance.

Wasn’t there a version of Excel that had some kind of car racing game, or driving simulator? Those were the days! Thanks for that memory, Shawn. 🙂 And thanks for the comment!

  8. For me, it would need to be a Reese’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Egg. 🙂

My wife would love that, but not me. I don’t mind peanut butter, but the combination of peanut butter and chocolate… no thanks. Now I don’t mind peanuts and chocolate. I love Snickers… 🙂

    • cds says:

They are a wonderful treat. Just wish you could get them year round in the US like you can in the UK. 🙂
