Published Story Number Two!

This is old news if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, but exciting news nonetheless. A story of mine was accepted for publication and is available to read in this month’s Riggwelter magazine! It’s in issue 6 which went live on February 1:

I’m not a fan of the cover art–sorry, Amy–which is why I’m not displaying it here. But click on the sheep and find my story, “A Brief Affair”!

And to answer the unspoken question, “Riggwelter” refers to a sheep that has fallen over.

Congratulations Colin. I love the twist at the end. The whole story made me smile. Jane x

  2. Great story. It built very nicely. Of course, having a comic book related aspect only made things better! Congratulations… and yes, I agree about the cover art. Not great, shall we say.

Thanks, David. Of course, the Marvel-ites are probably upset I didn’t pick Spiderman or Captain America. But, oh well. Amy, Riggwelter’s editor, wants the mag to be a place for experimental and unusual stuff, so I guess the cover fits that theme. This one’s not to my taste. I love their upside-down sheep logo, though. 🙂

One of my kids was like the boy in the story when he was younger. Very shy and afraid to go out, because he had difficulty with language and expressing himself. I bought him a Spiderman shirt and that made him brave enough to try. His language ability soared too. He’s still delayed but is in his second year of community college now. Has been skiing in Utah with our church group for three seasons. Made Eagle Scout. And he’s not the only boy I know who needed a piece of clothing to trigger confidence and development. Your story is more like a biography than fiction =)

    Congrats on publication!
